Life insurance product development. Taught me to turn business and regulatory requirements into precise specifications.
What I did: supported product development and pricing across distribution channels, prepared product filings for OJK (Indonesia's financial services regulator), analyzed market competitiveness, supported focus group discussions, and handled PAYDI (unit-linked) compliance.
What carries over to software
- Requirements from rules. Regulatory filings and compliance work meant reading dense rules and turning them into exact product specifications. It's the same skill as writing clear requirements before writing code.
- Data analysis. Competitiveness and pricing analysis trained me to back decisions with data.
- Product thinking. I saw how a product goes from idea to launch on the business side, which helps me build features that serve what the business needs.
