Actuarial work on pensions and employee benefits. Built my habits of precise calculation and clear communication with clients.
What I did: built contribution payment schedules for 30+ companies, calculated severance, long service, compensation, and separation pay, and worked directly with 20+ clients.
What carries over to software
- Accuracy at scale. Payment schedules for 30+ companies had no room for small errors. I bring the same care to data pipelines and business logic in code.
- Complex business rules. Benefit calculations follow detailed rules with many edge cases, much like implementing domain logic.
- Explaining results. Walking 20+ clients through their numbers taught me to explain technical work in plain language.
